The luminaire through-line

Build the room.
Then widen the door.

Shaw moved from Trinidad and Tobago to Brooklyn at fourteen and entered modeling without a roadmap. What began in front of the camera became a career spent understanding how industries work, who gets access, and what it takes to build something better.

She founded STRUT Models in 2013 to champion talent that traditional fashion systems often overlooked. Within three years, Shaw scaled the agency to represent more than 100 models, developing talent for national and international markets while building the operations, client relationships, financial systems, and team required to support that growth.

Her fashion leadership has always crossed borders. Through STRUT Models and her tenure as Director of Showroom & Runway at Wilhelmina Models, Shaw worked with global talent, clients, and creative teams. Her booking and brand experience includes Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Victoria's Secret, SKIMS, Macy's, Ray-Ban, Gap, Alice + Olivia, Levi's, LaPointe, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, and WWD.

That same instinct led to STRUT Esteem, which brings confidence, leadership, career readiness, fashion, and AI programming into New York City schools and community spaces. Today, it also shapes her AI consulting practice: technology should expand people's capacity, not diminish their value.

As a certified AI consultant, Shaw has led workshops for Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses alumni and Grow with Google. For founders, executives, and organizations, she turns AI from a talking point into useful infrastructure through team training, custom agents and automations, CEO dashboards, websites, in-house tools, and AI-powered social media strategy.

Her approach begins with the work clients already do and the tools they already have. She helps teams understand what to use, when to use it, and which platforms best fit each scenario, so adoption is practical, responsible, and built around measurable business needs.

That is why Shaw coined The AI Luminaire. In every chapter, she has helped others light their path forward: models finding their place in fashion, students discovering creative careers, and now brands and leaders finding their way through the AI revolution.

Away from the boardroom and runway, Shaw is an avid reader, content connoisseur, and devoted podcast listener. Personal and professional development, politics, hot topics, relationships, culture: if the conversation is trending, she probably has context. Audiobooks are always in rotation, with a special shout-out to Libby.

She is a proud boy mom, and her son is her heart in human form. She loves travel, memorable restaurant experiences, and time with family and friends. For Shaw, ambition matters, but so does building a life rich in curiosity, connection, good stories, and great meals.

STRUT
The Yard.

A fashion competition at Howard University became a documentary about HBCU culture, talent, ambition, and the power of being seen.

Conceived and pioneered by Shaw Bernard, STRUT The Yard created an HBCU talent pipeline and awarded winner Bailey Flowers a modeling contract. The inaugural competition is now documented in a feature streaming on Tubi.

I know what it means to build with limited resources, lead through change, and make innovation useful to real people. That is the perspective I bring to AI.
